The Chelsea Rai Smith Standberry Scholarship Foundation

While traveling back to Atlanta from Texas in 2018, former member Chelsea Rai Standberry and her three children lost their lives in a tragic, 8-vehicle accident. Following this very unfortunate tragedy, the Chair, Co-Chair, Board, and Members of the Rising Phenomenal Women International, Atlanta Chapter established a scholarship foundation in her name.

Chelsea wasn’t just the Vice President of Sponsorship for RPW; she was also a devoted friend, co-worker, and relative.  Through her involvement in RPW, the organization got to know her family, husband, Anthony, and the children, Anthony Jr., Anniyah, and Chase.

Chelsea played a pivotal role in increasing participation among Women of Color (WOC) in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). As Vice President, she developed RPW’s sponsorship outreach and successfully engaged community leaders and financial institutions to advance the organization’s mission. It soon became clear that her talents extended beyond engineering; she also had a deep passion for the arts, emerging as an accomplished actress in both theater and television.

It has been an honor for RPW to further the outstanding legacy of such a gifted and well-rounded young woman. The ChelseaRai Smith Standberry Scholarship is awarded to young women in college pursuing any of the STEAM disciplines. The initial scholarship was awarded in 2019 and is now awarded annually.

Rising Phenomenal Women greatly appreciates any donation, great or small. The monies will be put to good use, helping women receive education in technical fields while preserving the legacy and memory of an unforgettable RPW champion!
